Belarus presented an upgraded T-72 main battle tank referred to as the T-72BME during the 8th International Exhibition of Arms and Military Equipment “MILEX 2017”.
The T-72BME is developed by the Belarusian 140 Repair Plant and features an ECCA-72U gunner’s sighting system, which reportedly enables the tank to hit targets at a distance of 5-7 km with a detection range of 10 km.
The T-72BME also features a new engine which is 840 horsepower, 60 more than the T-72A engine. The power of the engine is the same as that of the T-72B.
The armor of the tank is strengthened by Kontakt-1 ERA, and additional spaced armor in the rear.
