The Serbian Defense Minister, Zoran Drodevic announced that his country will receive eight additional Mig-29 fighter jets and Buk missile systems from Belarus.
The minister added that Serbia will receive the equipment as a gift without making any payments, given that they cover the repair and modernization expenses which are due to be completed in 2018.
Dordevic added that Serbia is also willing to negotiate the purchase of S-300P and S-300V surface-to-air missiles from Belarus.
Russia provided Serbia with six Mig-29 fighter jets recently, but no agreement was reached concerning Buk surface-to-air missiles due to budget constraints.
Serbian Prime Minister Alexander Vucic headed a government delegation that visited Belarus on January 26-27. One of the documents signed during the visit was an intergovernmental agreement on military-technical cooperation.
