Russia’s Pacific Fleet is due to receive a batch of upgraded Kamov Ka-29 assault transport helicopters in 2017 according to the Eastern Military District spokesman.
The Ka-29 is an assault transport helicopter which can counter ships and submarines.
“An air unit in Primorye (Russia’s Far East) has started receiving the upgraded helicopters,” the spokesman added.
“Under state contract, a Russian Helicopters Group company has repainted the helicopters and replaced elements of their main rotor masts, engines and gearboxes,” said the spokesman.
In addition to its assault capabilities, the Ka-29 can carry up to 16 troops.
