Serbia announced that it will buy nine H145M light helicopters from Airbus, part of a wider modernization plan that also includes the procurement of Mig-29 jets from Russia.
Most of the existing aircraft in service with the Serbian Air Force are nearing the end of their lifetime.
The price or timeframe of delivery were not specified during the announcement made by the Serbian Defense Ministry on Thursday.
The deal also involves a transfer of technology for maintenance of the aircraft and training for pilots and land crews.
The H145M helicopters will used by both military and police.
