Lockheed Martin awarded contract for Pakistani AH-1Z upgrade

Lockheed Martin has been awarded a contract by the the U.S. Department of Defense supply pakistan’s Bell AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters with AN/AAQ-30 Target Sight Systems.

Pakistan will receive 9 AH-1Z helicopters by September 2018.

The contract awarded is made under a Foreign Military Sales program and totals $151 million.

The AN/AAQ-30 TSS is an electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor capable of nighttime imaging and laser-designation for air-to-surface missiles such as the AGM-114R Hellfire II.

This is the second Pakistani contract of its sort, after one was issued in January for $14.2 million.
