The U.S. State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Peru for refurbished Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICVs).

The total amount for the sale is estimated to stand at $668 million for 178 ICVs.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on December 2, 2016.

The sale of 178 M2 Flex .50 Cal Machine Guns and an equal number of Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) was also requested by the government of Peru.

This acquisition is considered to be the first major step in Peru’s acquisition strategy to build a multi-dimensional brigade by 2030.
