Finland close to ink K9 howitzer deal with South Korea

Finland and South Korea are reportedly close to sign a $400 million contract for 48 Korean-made K9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers (SPH).

Military authorities of the two nations plan to carry out a performance test in Finland this week and sign a memorandum of understanding for its export. The two sides are said to be planning to sign a formal pact at the beginning of next year.

The K9 has range of 40 kilometers, and is one of South Korea’s major weapons.
