The Russian 1st Guards Tank Army in the western military district is set to order 10 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled howitzer (SPH) system for trials.
The 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV is the successor of the 2S19 Msta-S. It is also intended to replace other ageing Russian 152-mm artillery systems such as the 2S3 Akatsiya.
The 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV SPH has two 152-mm guns, which enable it to fire at a higher rate of 16 rounds per minute compared to the current artillery systems.
The system was demonstrated for the first time in 2006, and the trials of new SPH will begin in 2017.
