The upgraded Mi-28NM attack helicopter made its first flight at the Russian Helicopter plant on Wednesday. The new attack helicopter is expected to be delivered in 2018 according to the head of Russian Helicopters, Alexander Mikheyev.
“We plan the pilot pre-production batch of helicopters for delivery in 2018,” he said.
The prototype of the modernized Night Hunter helicopter made its first flight in the town of Tomilino in the Moscow Region, after being spotted for the first time in July.
The upgrades on Night Hunter helicopter have reportedly started in 2009. A new all-round surveillance radar, a control system and other equipment will also feature increased capabilities for using precision weapons.
Russian Aerospace Force Commander-in-Chief Viktor Bondarev said earlier that the new version of the Mi-28NM helicopter would start arriving for the Russian Armed Forces no later than 2018.
