The upgraded Tor-M2U air defense system has been given the green lights to enter service after trials at a defense ministry missile range, Igor Ivanov, director for military-technical cooperation, Kupol Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant, told Russia’s TASS news agency.

“The Tor-M2U surface-to-air missile (SAM) system is fit for operational service judging by the results it has produced at a testing ground of the Defense Ministry. The system has been shipped to its home station,” he said.

The Tor-M2U is an upgraded version of the Tor-M2. The new variant is equipped with a new battlefield missile system with better algorithms to recognize, classify and prioritize targets and able to engage four threats simultaneously.
