Lithuania plans to buy a Norwegian-US mid-range air defense system known was the NASAMS.
According to the Lithuanian Defense Minister, the his country plans to spend around $112 million for the system.
The country plans to acquire two rocket launchers for one battery, with a total of two batteries. Each battery is to receive a fire distribution center and radar.
The system is manufactured by Kongsberg, and is capable of hitting targets at a distance of 40 km and at the height of up to 14 km.
In recent years, Lithuania has stepped up its defense capabilities by purchasing Polish Grom Manpads and Javelin anti-tank missile.
Lithuania has also acquired German Pzh-2000 self-propelled howitzers and Boxer infantry fighting vehicles with upgraded turrets.
