Delivery of Russian BMP-3 IFVs to Azerbaijan postponed to 2018

Russian 1st Guards Tank Army to receive 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV self-propelled howitzers | Defense Watch

The Deputy General Director of the Russian Concern Tractor Plants told TASS news agency that the delivery of BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to Azerbaijan will be postponed to late 2017/early 2018 due to financial difficulties. The IFVs were due to be delivered in this year.

There was speculation about the quantity of weapons delivered to Baku during Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Rogozin’s visit to the country’s capital to discuss the payment for Russian weapons that were ordered earlier.

Azerbaijan had ordered 91 BMP-3 IFVs from Russia in 2013, with a price tag of $2.4M for each vehicle.
