Armenian T-72 tanks to be upgraded to T-72B3 locally

The Russian Ministry of Defense and military hardware manufacturer Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) have signed the first contract for 100 T-14 Armata tanks. The pilot batch will undergo testing in battlefield runs, Russia’s deputy defense minister said on Tuesday.

“We have a contract for the pilot batch of 100 plus machines, they are used in trials and combat operations,” Yuri Borisov said during the second international military and technical forum Army-2016.

The T-14 Armata was first shown in public during rehearsals for the 2015 Victory Day Parade in Moscow.

Russia plans to replace its mostly Soviet-made tank fleet with the all-new Armata.
