Ukraine is preparing to transfer another batch of Oplot combat tanks to the Thai army as part of a $200 million contract that was signed in 2011.
According to a report on the website of the Malyshev tank plant in Kharkiv, the production is in the stage of final assembly.
Malyshev added that they successfully mobilized efforts to accelerate the work carried out at the plant, as well as accelerating supply of components from subcontractors.
“Increasing the pace and squeezing production time, the plant has fully met the specified time frame to successfully demonstrate the high quality level of heavy armored vehicles in ground conditions soon,” added Malyshev.
Recent reports indicated that Ukraine delivered a around 10 of the initially ordered 49 T-84 Oplots to Thailand in April 2015, however doubts surrounded the completion of the contract.
